Beloved “Battlestar Galactica” babe Katee Sackhoff has signed on for a regular role on the upcoming eighth season of FOX’s “24.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sackhoff will play Dana Walsh, a CTU data analyst. The trade says that Sachhoff’s character has a secret past and is involved with new CTU agent David Cole, played by Freddie Prinze Jr.

We hope that “secret past” involves field work, because it would be a tremendous waste to keep Sackhoff stuck behind a computer, even if she spends quality time bickering with Chloe.

It’s been a brief-but-busy off-season for “24,” which has already begun shooting Day Eight. In addition to Sackhoff and Prinze, other new castmembers include Anil Kapoor, Jennifer Westfeldt, Mykelti Williamson, John Boyd and Chris Diamantopoulos.

“24” will return to FOX in January.

Best known as Kara Trace from the late, already-missed “Battlestar Galactica,” Sackhoff also had a recurring role on NBC’s “Bionic Woman.” She most recently starred in the NBC pilot “Lost and Found,” a Dick Wolf-produced drama that failed to find a place on the network’s schedule.
