After starring in the surprise hit “A Haunting in Connecticut,” Kyle Gallner is heading across town for more scares in the remake of “A Nightmare on Elm Street.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gallner will play Quentin a role approximate in stature to the one Johnny Depp played in the original 1984 film. Quentin is described as an “indie-style” guy who runs the high school’s podcast, “Insomnia Radio” and is one of the teens who falls prey to series villain Freddy Krueger on the notorious street. Late last week, Jackie Earle Haley was announced as the new Krueger, taking over the inconic role from series orignator Robert Englund.
Gallner is best known for playing a young incarnation of The Flash on “Smallville,” but will also appear later this year in the Diablo Cody scripted horror flick “Jennifer’s Body.”
Produced by Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes company and under the direction of Samuel Bayer, the new “Nightmare on Elm Street” should begin shooting later this month in Chicago.
