It’s hardly what you think of when you think of Valentine’s Day and romance, but the Taste of Chaos tour kicks off Feb. 14 in Los Angeles.

The fifth annual heavy metal/hard rock/screamfest is winter’s answer to the Warped Tour and was started by Warped founder Kevin Lyman and John Reese. The theater outing combines big names (this year’s headliner is Thursday) with medium-sized and breaking acts and is a great way to hear up-and-comers. (A trivia note: in 2005 Paramore won Chaos’s battle of the bands in Florida and look where they are now.)

Thursday is joined by Bring Me the Horizon, Four Year Strong, Pierce the Veil and Cancer Bats. Presented by Rockstar Energy Drink, Chaos’s tickets are priced at a recession proof $20-$25.

The North American portion wraps April 9 in Montreal.
