The Who have confirmed their appearance at the Super Bowl XLIV Halftime Show on Feb. 7.  CBS will be broadcasting the championship game and the performance live from from Dolphin Stadium in South Florida.

The announcement came from the British band’s camp, as well as from the NFL today during the Thanksgiving football showdown between the Oakland Raiders and the Dallas Cowboys. This performance comes on the heels of other recent halftime shows featuring veteran acts like Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, Prince and the Rolling Stones.

Right in time, too: The Who will be releasing the 19-track “Greatest Hits” set on Dec. 22, which will include the songs below, listed chronilogically from the band’s career 1964-2006.

As previously reported, Roger Daltrey and guitarist/songwriter Pete Townshend, the band’s remaining original members, have also been working on new music. The Who also appear on the soundtrack for the film “Pirate Radio,” released earlier this month.
