Fast National ratings for Friday, Dec. 26, 2008.

Friday night’s two most-watched programs were a pair of episodes of “Ghost Whisper” on CBS, so it’s no wonder the network claimed the repeat-filled night in most measures.

In the key 18-49 demographic, CBS averaged a 1.5 rating, nipping the three-way tie between ABC, NBC and FOX with a 1.2 rating. The CW delivered its standard 0.5 rating.

Overall, CBS averaged 7 million viewers, plus a 4.5 rating/8 share. FOX was second with a 3.4/6, followed by NBC’s 2.8/5 and the 2.6/5 for ABC. The CW’s 0.8/2 trailed.

At 8 p.m., the first of those CBS “Ghost Whisperer” repeats had a 5.0/9 for first. FOX’s “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?” was second with a 3.5/7, better than the tally for “Wife Swap” on ABC. NBC aired “Top Chef” and drew a 1.6/3, better than The CW’s 0.9/2 for “Everybody Hates Chris” and “The Game.”

“Ghost Whisperer” had a 4.2/8 in its second hour for CBS. FOX stayed second with a 3.2/6 for “Don’t Forget the Lyrics,” while NBC moved up to third with “Dateline.” ABC’s “Supernanny” had a 2.2/4 for fourth, better than The CW’s episodes of “The Game” and “Everybody Hates Chris.”

CBS completed its Friday sweep with a 4.2/8 for “Numb3rs” in the 10 p.m. hour. NBC’s “Dateline” had a 3.9/7 for second, beating the 3.4/4 for ABC’s “20/20.”
