Josh Duhamel and Kristen Bell haven’t set the romantic comedy world on fire as supporting players in their previous cinematic efforts, but their upcoming flick “When in Rome” showcases how together they create an intriguing big screen couple.
Bell has been a genre fan favorite since the short-lived TV series “Veronica Mars” and earned movie fan cred with her role in “Forgetting Sarah Marshall.” Still, the unintentional laughs in “Pulse” aside, “Rome” is her first true leading comedy role. Duhamel, on the other hand, is best known to moviegoers for his roles in the “Transformers” franchise and five years on NBC’s “Las Vegas.” Oh, unless you want to count his part as a hollywood star in “Win a Date with Tad Hamilton” which wasn’t much of a stretch. “Rome” shows that both stars can really hold their own and carry a romantic comedy — even when the material they are provided really isn’t up to par.
HitFix sat down and talked with the duo (who affectionately bickered like an old married couple) about the fun they had making “Rome” and gave some quick bits on their upcoming projects “Burlesque” (Bell) and “Transformers 3” (Duhamel).

“When in Rome” opens nationwide this Friday.
