Is Food Just As Pleasurable As Sex? More Than Half Of Women Think So

Food, glorious food! Did you know there are some people who don’t like eating? Yes, all those delicious things you salivate over as they flash across your TV, computer and phone screens —  Cheeto burritos, bourbon bacon bagel cheeseburgers, and peach-filled doughnuts — some people don’t even care! But other people, particularly women, care a lot. As in, they prefer food over sex.

“But what exactly is sex?” you ask. Oh, you didn’t ask that. Well in any case…sex, much like food, is amazing. It involves orgasms, suppresses your appetite, and in some rare cases, it accompanies your third favorite thing, coffee. Sex is so great, the Olympic committee is giving away insane amounts of condoms in Rio so athletes can’t reproduce wildly athletic, super-human babies.

But what’s better, sex or food? Well if you ask Havas Worldwide who partnered with Market Probe International to survey nearly 12,000 people, you’ll get an answer. The survey examined prosumers — individuals who consume and produce media, as well as “mainstream consumers” who typically follow the trends of prosumers — and what they found is that about half of the mainstream and six out of 10 prosumers agreed that eating can be as pleasurable as sex. In fact, about a third of their survey sample would opt for a nice dinner over sex. This choice was most popular among women, with 42 percent of ladies surveyed said they are more likely to choose dinner over sex.

It’s no wonder trends like #foodporn and #foodgasm are taking over Instagram feeds. Food isn’t just an aphrodisiac anymore. When it comes to sex, it just might be an occasional replacement.
