A Russian Man Was Saved From A Bear Attack By His Justin Bieber Ringtone

It turns out that a Russian brown bear has a lot in common with Orlando Bloom, in that they both hate Justin Bieber. According to a very unusual and borderline unbelievable story (UPDATE: It was reportedly a hoax, so my apprehension was justified) making the rounds, a Russian fisherman named Igor Vorozhbitsyn was heading out for some business as usual recently, when he was suddenly attacked by the giant killing machine in question. According to the Central European News (via the New York Post), the only reason that Igor isn’t мертвый and is able to share his story today is because of a joke ringtone that his granddaughter loaded onto his phone.

That tone? Justin Bieber’s “Baby.” Laugh all you want, but Igor claimed that as soon as his phone started playing it, the bear stopped attacking him and fled the scene, allowing him to escape and ultimately receive treatment.

“I couldn’t believe my luck when the phone went off and he fled,” Vorozhbitsyn said.

“I know that sort of ringtone isn’t to everyone’s taste, but my granddaughter loaded it onto my phone for a joke.” (Via the NY Post, complete with “after” picture)

Of course, leave it to a so-called bear expert to be a buzzkill and ruin the fun of an unusual story for everyone.

“Sometimes a sharp shock can stop an angry bear in its tracks and that ringtone would be a very unexpected sound for a bear,” an expert told Central European News.

Wanna know what a bear looks like when it actually likes Bieber’s music?

I bet you saw that coming a mile away.
