Taylor Swift played Good Samaritan this week, donating a sizable $15,000 to a firefighter and his family in need.

Aaron Van Riper, a volunteer firefighter in Texas, responded to a 911 emergency call last Saturday regarding a head-on car crash. When he arrived at the scene, he made a shocking discovery: The victims included his wife, Amber, and his son. Though they survived the nasty collision, the necessary surgeries and medical care proved to be a huge challenge for the insurance-less Van Ripers.

Friends started a GoFundMe campaign to help offset the mounting bills, but it was one $15,000 pledge in particular that really made a difference. The gift came with no message or note, and was simply signed as “Taylor Swift.” The pop star’s light-up concert bracelets might’ve inadvertently saved people in a car accident, but this quiet gesture of kindness should help remind folks that “Bad Blood” or not, she’s got a heart, too.
