In the wake of Prince’s shocking death at age 57 earlier this week, tributes to the iconic musician have been flowing in from all corners of the entertainment world. From Minnesota’s sports franchises paying their respects on game days, to television specials, to Broadway casts “getting crazy” or incredibly soulful during curtain calls, to the artist’s musical contemporaries honoring him during concerts and appearances throughout the week, it has been an incredible outpouring of admiration and love for the dearly departed musician. Of course, it would be a more joyous occasion if this celebration of Prince’s music wasn’t happening only because he had passed. But at least in this time of mourning one of Rock’s all-time greatest we have his music to get us through.

Elton John, a musician who also loves his elements of flair and outlandish concert setups, paused mid-concert in Vegas this weekend to offer up some words about Prince’s career and life. Similar to when Elton eulogized David Bowie earlier this year, it is a heartwarming display of respect from one incredible artist to another. You can watch the full video over at TMZ, and hear his recollections of when he and Prince both has Vegas shows together, as well as how Prince was truly a one of a kind artist and human. Unlike many other concert tributes this week, Elton doesn’t perform a song from one of Prince’s list of hits, but his honoring of the artist is just as great without a musical facet.
