On a night meant to honor hip-hop’s women, it was a guy who generated the most talk and attention. Monday night’s VH1 Hip-Hop Honors: All Hail the Queens was a festive event centered around the contributions of select group of rap’s first ladies. But, it was Rich Homie Quan who stole the show by wrecking his performance of the Notorious B.I.G.’s verse on “Get Money” as he performed alongside one of the show’s honorees, Lil Kim.
Maybe it was a case of bad nerves associated with standing in for one of rap’s all-time greats. Perhaps there wasn’t much rehearsal time or maybe RHQ got too lit backstage before the performance. Or, perhaps these are the results when rappers shift their focus from bars to “melodies and moods.” Whatever the case, Rich Homie completely fumbled lines and totally forgot others, requiring the Queen Bee to help fill-in some of Frank White’s lines.
Twitter was unforgiving, first roasting him endlessly and later following up #RichHomieKaraoke. The slander was thick as people butchered song lyrics to other well known rap tracks, in dishonor of Rich Homie Quan.
