You knew I couldn’t go a day without writing a post on Breaking Bad. You knew that, right? Here are some thoughts on last night’s episode. Summary: it was the bee’s knees!
Hank is still the show’s most likeable character. But I miss the old, jovial, mildly abrasive Hank. Every other sentence he uttered ended with an exhaling cackle and a slap on the back. Now his eyes dart around and bug out of his head, and he grimaces while Aphex Twin knockoff music plays. Not funny!
Same with Jesse. Dude has been going downhill for a while, and now he is completely destroyed as a human being. This show is getting too sad. Next show I want at least 20 minutes dedicated to Badger trying and failing to assemble a desk or something.
When Walt calls Gus to tell him he wants Gale out of the picture, did we witness television history? Walt thinks Gus has hung up and asks, “hello?” And Gus is still there! He didn’t hang up! This never ever happens on TV. In every other situation, the phone has been disconnected, and you hear an impossibly loud dial tone.
I feel that there’s nothing left to say about the final scene.
Okay, there’s one thing left to say (spoiler):
THE AX STUCK IN THE ASPHALT
HIS HEAD EXPLODED AND HE DROPPED HIS AX AND THE AX HEAD STUCK IN THE ASPHALT
WIKIPEDIA STATES, “WITHIN NORTH AMERICA THE APPARENT INTERCHANGEABILITY OF THE WORDS ASPHALT AND ‘BITUMEN’ CAUSES CONFUSION OUTSIDE THE ROAD CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY DESPITE” OH NEVERMIND THIS ISN’T AS PERTINENT AS I HOPED IT WOULD BE
SHARPEST AX EVER
