Last night, Conan O’Brien announced that he was going to introduce “new comedy bits that aren’t so much funny as they are crazy expensive.” And he led off with a whopper: the “Bugatti Veyron Mouse,” the world’s most expensive car decorated to look like a mouse, with the Rolling Stones’ “Satisfaction” as its theme song (video below). It struck a discordant comedy note: it really was completely unfunny, yet totally brilliant in execution.

Conan: “Is this appropriate music for a car that looks like a mouse? NO! Does it add anything to this comedy bit? NO it doesn’t. Is it crazy expense to play on the air, not to mention the rights to re-air this clip on the Internet? Hell, yes! Total price tag for this comedy bit: $1.5 million. Sorry, NBC!”

Being the cynical, wizened Internet veteran that I am, I have my doubts that they actually bought the Bugatti, but I don’t want to spoil the fun so I’ll just shut up. As for the rights to air the clip on the Internet: you’ll notice that neither nor Hulu has the clip available. NBC’ll probably seize the car and give it to Leno, too.
