Pete Davidson Says It Breaks His Heart To See Bobby Moynihan Leave ‘SNL’ In This Loving Tribute

Tonight’s edition of Saturday Night Live has the potential for a surefire classic episode. It’s a big ol’ season finale equipped with the star power of your future president Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and pop colossus Katy Perry combined with doing duty as the farewell episode for veteran cast members Bobby Moynihan and Vanessa Bayer. There might be a swanky Kristen Wiig-esque goodbye in the plans for Saturday’s goof-n-spoofery or it might go barely mentioned, but it’s certainly going to be a show that will pack an emotional wallop within the cast.

Pete Davidson shared a special heartfelt tribute on Friday laying out how much he’s going to miss Bobby Moynihan with an Instagram post. (The Bayer exit news hadn’t hit at until this afternoon, so the opportunities for the cast to do public goodbyes for her were somewhere between limited and non-existent.) Anchored by a photo of the two comedians looking cheery and kinda cozy in black tie regalia, Davidson wrote about what a great friend Moynihan has been to him during his SNL tenure.

“Tomorrow is our last show together. It breaks my heart,” he wrote. “When I became a cast member you were really there for me and such a pal. I wouldn’t have been able to get through it without you. Over the past few years we’ve become great friends and I’m honored to have met you and have you in my life. You’re one of the funniest people I know and I’ll never forget the time we spent together on floor 17. Well wishes and continued success. I love you @bibbymoynihan.”

Kind words about Bobby Moynihan’s last night on SNL (as a cast member anyway) have popped up on Twitter too. Expect more tributes to Moynihan and Bayer on social media to emerge throughout Saturday night through to Sunday morning and beyond. Also, bless Mike O’Brien’s heart for bringing up Ass Dan.
