When it comes to sports, Drake normally keeps his fandom contained to the basketball court, often showing up courtside at NBA games, or bro’ing it up with his favorite college squad. But, now he’s taking his support to a different court in support of women’s college volleyball all for the sake of his goddaughter.
On Thursday, the Views rapper made a stop by Walter Pyramid at Long Beach State to cheer on his goddaughter, LBSU player and his goddaughter, Ashley Murray, as her team took on Loyola Marymount University. Her team won 3-0 and Champagne Papi was on hand to congratulate them afterward.
“There’s nothing more powerful than when someone shares their blessings,” Murray said in an Instagram post after the match. “When they show up for you, you show out for them. Thank you for coming to support me and my team. Love you always. Best Godfather ever.”

Of course, it’s not every day that a rap star shows up at an event that doesn’t involve the big three sports so his appearance caused a stir. The squad played in front of one their biggest crowds of the year with students packing into the venue to catch a glimpse of Drake for their social media accounts.
