Lonzo Ball is officially a Los Angeles Laker and Big Baller Brands wasted no time in releasing a special Lakers colorway for Ball’s ZO2 shoes.

Seconds after Ball was officially a Laker, Big Baller Brands started a preorder for the ZO2 Sho’time colorway, a white shoe with yellow and purple accents that celebrates the team Ball always hoped he’d one day play for.

The shoes are $495, and with the ZO2 Prime officially no longer on preorder, these are the only Big Baller Brand shoes available for the time being. The company says the shoes will be available for a “limited time” and expects the Sho’time edition of the ZO2s to ship by February 10, which the company notes is just in time for the All-Star Game, which will be played in Los Angeles next winter.

Big Baller Brand is pretty excited to have Lonzo on the Lakers, as the company tweeted an illustration of Ball in a No. 2 Lakers jersey shortly after the pick.

One has to wonder if BBB had a colorway of every potential landing spot for Ball ready, or if they were all-in on the Lakers, as LaVar Ball seemed to indicate throughout the entire draft process. One thing’s for sure, they had a phyiscal pair ready for Ball to wear on draft night.

Reaction to the shoes was mixed. While Lakers fans yearning for Ball to join the team should be excited to see the ZO2s in Lakers colors, others weren’t thrilled by the look of the show with a white base.

That post sparked a bit of a shoe roast, and the cries of “bowling shoe” are pretty accurate if you ask me.

It’s tough to find a good-looking bowling shoe, and if that’s how the shoe looks when it has a splash of color it’s not a great sign for the long-term viability of other colorways.

It’s safe to say these shoes are for a much smaller market than the all-black everything look Ball went with when designing the Prime edition of these kicks. That’s a favorite look of his, as he went all-black on draft night as well. But he and fans will definitely be seeing him in a lot more purple and yellow moving forward.

It’s tough to know if more people buys the shoe’s second colorway than the first, though I’m sure we will find out the sales figures soon enough.
