Neil DeGrasse Tyson, the cuddly mustachioed face of all things science is going to be getting his own talk show on the National Geographic Channel this coming April. Yes, apparently the National Geographic Channel is now doing talk shows. What a time to be alive.

Star Talk will essentially be an extension of Tyson’s podcast of the same name, where he chats science and pop culture with various celebrities. Oh, and it sounds like Bill Nye will be playing a sort of a sidekick role on the show, performing a minute-long science rant every episode, so us old folks who were around before Tyson was the current science-talking hotness will be covered. Perhaps best of all, every episode will be taped inside the American Museum of Natural History’s Hayden planetarium, hopefully in the midst of a full-on Led Zeppelin laser show. For his part, Tyson seems to be enthusiastic about the new show…

“Cosmos allowed us to share the awesome power of the universe with a global audience in ways that we never thought possible. To be able to continue to spread wonder and excitement through Star Talk, which is a true passion project for me, is beyond exciting. And National Geographic Channel is the perfect home as we continue to explore the universe.”

Welp, time to embark on an exciting voyage to the outer-reaches of my cable package to see if I have the National Geographic channel.
