Camila Cabello’s ‘Crying In The Club’ Video Has Her Dancing In A Glass Box And Shedding A Single Tear

Camila Cabello released her first solo single, “Crying In The Club,” along with its dramatic video, on Friday morning. And that wasn’t all. “There’s gonna be a surprise in there, so stay up,” Cabello wrote while teasing the video a few hours before. As it turns out, the former Fifth Harmony member injected another one of her new songs in the video, “I Have Questions.”

The opening scene has Camila collapsed against a wall, a single tear dripping down her cheek as she sings, “Why did you leave me here to burn / I’m way too young to be this hurt.” She’s in black and white as she floats around an empty room and floats stoically in murky bath water. The clip of “I Have Questions” lasts a little longer than a minute before the music picks up the pace and “Crying In The Club” begins.

“Crying In The Club” lays down an Ed Sheeran-based “Shape of You” beat as Cabello slathers vocals all over the track. When it comes to the chorus, you can immediately tell that Sia had her hand in the joint. “Ain’t no crying in the club, hey, hey / Let the beat carry, your tears as they fall baby / Ain’t no crying in the club, hey, hey / With a little faith, your tears turn to ecstasy / Ain’t no crying in the club.”

The song also samples a bit of Christina Aguilera’s 1999 breakout, “Genie In A Bottle.” There are many people involved with the track, and among them are Cabello’s friend Benny Blanco, Cashmere Cat (she appears on his album as well) and, of course, Sia.

“This video summarizes the message of my journey over the past couple years, from darkness to light, from lost to found,” Cabello told Complex. “The director Emil Nava and I are put our hearts into this and we hope you like it!”

“Crying In The Club” will appear on Cabello’s coming solo debut The Hurting, The Healing, The Loving, which was written at a time when she was “broken,” she told fans. “’The hurting the healing the loving’ is the story of my journey from darkness into light, from a time when I was lost to a time when I found myself again,” she wrote in a letter.
