TDE members Isaiah Rashad and SZA join forces with Atlanta’s Childish Major for the high-tempoed “Happy Birthday.” Childish Major’s actual born day was July 4th and he decided to celebrate it with the song’s release. Major just hit 25 and, true for most 25-year-olds, he’s dealing with relationship issues in his personal life. The nature of that exact relationship isn’t explicitly stated, but whatever “it” was, clearly doesn’t exist anymore.

Ain’t nobody care about your feelin’s
Ain’t nobody here for the emotions
Everybody just keep on floatin’, bye
Bitches don’t even say “hi” no more

Isaiah shows up towards the end of the song and only rubs salt in the wounds of those waiting for more new music from him. Keeping in line with the subject matter, Rashad’s verse takes a similar tone as Childish Major’s, except he seems to be talking directly to a special someone.

You ain’t just some regular song
You ain’t never nothin’ to me
Sittin’ at the back of the bed, everybody just keep on floatin’
You just want somebody to blame
You just wanna be in the mix
You just wanna give it a go
You just wanna do you a line
You just wanna do you a line, hey

SZA handles the background vocals and sounds just as lovely as she always does. The production on “Happy Birthday” is top notch. If you’re not familiar with Childish Major, “Happy Birthday” will definitely be a nice introduction.

There’s no album release date for the untitled album but if this single is an indication of what’s to come, fans and newcomers will be very happy.
