Community’s Rob Schrab just scored a pretty awesome gig. The TV director just signed on to direct The LEGO Movie sequel for Warner Bros. Aside from his work on Community, Schrab has worked on episodes of The Mindy Project, Children’s Hospital, won a WGA Award for his work on The Sarah Silverman Program and an Emmy for contributing to Hugh Jackman’s opening musical number from the 2009 Academy Awards. From Nerdist:

Warner Bros. had initially tapped Chris McKay to direct The LEGO Movie sequel, but after speaking with original LEGO Movie directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the trio decided to move forward with a LEGO Batman spinoff film first. With McKay now attached to direct LEGO Batman and Lord & Miller only committed to pen the script and produce the sequel, it left an empty chair for the planned 2018 LEGO Movie follow-up. Now, it seems that Schrab will be the next to join the seriously funny coterie of comedic talent working on the film.

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller will be writing the script for the sequel and are on as producers, as well. The busy duo was recently tapped by Fox to executive producer The Greatest American Hero reboot.

The LEGO Movie Sequel is set to hit theaters in 2018. Until then, we have Ninjago and LEGO Batman to look forward to.

Everything really IS awesome!
