Bette Midler’s Enchanting Costume Has Us Drooling For A ‘Hocus Pocus’ Sequel

There’s a small but strong population of folks that consider Hocus Pocus to be a holy text. Or a holy VHtext, we suppose. Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker busting out Disney witchcraft laughs plus a solid rendition of “I Put a Spell on You?” What’s not to like? Chatter about a potential sequel has been around for seemingly ages, so we’ll take whatever bonus Hocus Pocus (HocPoc? HoPo? CusCus?) treats we can.

Krudler co-owner Bette Midler conjured up her Disney kids comedy alter-ego Winifred Sanderson with appropriately amazing results. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bette donned this familiar ensemble at a Hulaween Party celebrating the 21st anniversary of New York’s Restoration Project. Not that you’d imagine Bette Midler blindly snapping up a costume at Dollar Tree, but it should be noted that there’s some excellent attention to detail on display. The makeup’s on point, the wardrobe is first rate and an elegant broom ties the look together.

“You don’t get to see women doing slapstick too much, and in the movie you can see that we’re having a blast,” noted Midler on the popularity of Hocus Pocus in a recent Billboard interview. “For the life of me, I can’t understand why there’s not a sequel. All the shackles were off, as Donald Trump likes to say, and we were allowed to be as wild as we wanted to be. It was a perfect storm of fun.
