Mark Ruffalo Isn’t Optimistic About The Possibility Of A Stand-Alone Hulk Film

We already know that Bruce Banner/The Hulk will be teaming up with everyone’s favorite Asgardian (chill out, Team Loki) for Thor: Ragnarok, but is Marvel any closer to giving fans a stand-alone Hulk film? Mark Ruffalo doesn’t sound very optimistic. According to an interview with USA Today, they “are not any closer” to giving the not-so-jolly green giant his shot at the spotlight.

“Actually, it feels even further away,” Ruffalo tells USA TODAY. “It’s not Marvel’s property, it’s Universal’s property. I don’t know. It seems really problematic.”

Despite the issues surrounding the property, Ruffalo is pretty chill about the whole thing and is content to be a Marvel team player.

“I’ve been around long enough to be OK with it. There’s only so much that’s in my power and I’m not going to agonize over what is not in my power. I definitely try to limit that to my kids and the things that really matter to me.”

That isn’t to say that he wouldn’t be down to do a solo Hulk film if the opportunity presented itself. Maybe that would be a good showcase for his Hulk vs. Banner ideas.

“I’d love to do it, it’d be really fun. There’s a lot still to do with the character. I always try to think about different places we could go with him.”

The Hulk has been tackled twice in recent solo films to mediocre to just plain bad results, but Ruffalo has really made the Hulk his own in the latest Marvel phases. Something tells me that fans would welcome a solo film with open arms if the rights issues are ever cleared up.
