The First ‘Murder On The Orient Express’ Trailer Puts Kenneth Branagh’s Mustache On The Case

Johnny Depp hasn’t had a lot of great press lately, so it’s possible that this promising-looking trailer for a new adaptation of Agatha Christie’s beloved detective novel, Murder on the Orient Express, could save the day. Though not Depp, of course, as his character in the film, Ratchett is murdered — leaving Kenneth Branagh’s Hercule Poirot (and his ridiculously large mustache) to interrogate every potential suspect on the train and solve the case.

Branagh, who also directs the feature, told Entertainment Weekly, “I realized that we could find a way to have the fun of Agatha Christie, but have the absolutely deadly intention behind it, and the danger. I think we’re making a scarier film than people might imagine. We’re not trying to turn it into something it isn’t, but I think we’re away from the drawing room mystery, and we’re into something [else]. Because the book is also a dark psychological revenge drama.”

In addition to Branagh and Depp, the latest Murder on the Orient Express movie includes a veritable who’s who of a cast. Michelle Pfeiffer, Daisy Ridley, Penelope Cruz, Josh Gad, William Dafoe and Judi Dench all feature as the main train car’s primary occupants (and therefore suspects), as well as several other established performers, like Derek Jacobi and Leslie Odom Jr. The film is set for a November 10th theatrical release.
