Both 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne had pretty productive 2017s. 2 Chainz was busier, releasing his Pretty Girls Like Trap album that was so well-regarded it made his fans feel like he’s the king of the trap. He also jumped on several records, including getting with Eminem on a verse for Revival’s “Chloraseptic” – that saw the light of day after a misunderstanding. Wayne wasn’t as active as 2 Chainz, but gave us a dope Christmas gift in the form of Dedication 6, the latest entry in his freestyle series that shows the New Orleans MC staking his claim to the mixtape king title.
What happens when one man’s trap king and another’s mixtape king get together? Possibly another ColleGrove. 2 Chainz took to Instagram today with a picture of he and Weezy with the caption letting the world know “ME AND MY BROTHA GOTTA ANOTHER 1 ON THE WAY.” It’s likely 2 Chainz is referring to another joint project between the two. Their original project, 2016’s ColleGrove was a well-regarded exhibition of two of the most imaginative MCs going. The two rappers traded punchlines over a range of quirky trap bangers, seemingly trying to outdo each other with every line. Based on the form they’re entering 2018 with, we should expect no less with their next project.
