The most popular song in Spotify’s oft-controversial history is from a guy who was still a teenager when the streaming service was being developed. That would be “Wake Me Up” by Avicii, whose name sounds like the beginning of a magic trick. So it should come as no surprise that the 24-year-old DJ topped Spotify’s chart of the 25 top artists under 25, based on things like “number-one hits, volume and growth of streams and shares, as well as viral chart success from the past year.”
Elsewhere on the list are familiar names like Taylor Swift, Jake Bugg, and Earl Sweatshirt, as well as musicians who sound made up. I’ll accept Birdy as a “REAL” person, but Phillip Phillips? No way.
