Iggy Azalea Wants To Clear The Air On Why She Canceled Her Tour

The recently engaged Iggy Azalea has become quite the household name over the past few years. Things were going great for the Australian star… a simultaneous No. 1 and No. 2 on the charts, a successful relationship with the NBA’s Nick Young, and worldwide fame. Then came the bad… being the butt of internet memes, a rumored sex tape, criticisms about her artistic legitimacybeefs with fellow musicians, petitions to get her removed from the Billboard awards, and turmoil within her own camp. Now, after postponing and then finally canceling her upcoming world tour, Azalea spoke with Seventeen to set the record straight, explaining amidst rumors that the tour was cancelled because she’s “had a different creative change of heart.”

Iggy didn’t shy away from rumors of a purported breakdown, saying, “I just feel I deserve a break,” and adding, “I’m not in a bad place. I think sometimes when you say you need a mental break, people are like ‘A mental break? Be sure you don’t have a breakdown because you’re sad.'” If only her “Pretty Girls” partner Britney Spears had used that same thought process in 2007.

The Great Escape Tour was originally expected to begin earlier this year, but had been postponed due to difficulties within Azalea’s camp.  Once they continued with it, Azalea says she couldn’t find any opening acts. It was just one thing after another, and it seems the pressure was just too much for her to handle, especially being already quite exhausted from nonstop performing.

It seems like a smart move by Azalea to cancel her tour. If she executes her “creative change of heart” well, she can possibly gain the trust of a music community that has deemed her an imposter. Only time will tell. You can read Azalea’s full statement here.
