This Ukulele Player Covering Matisyahu Has No Idea Matisyahu Is Watching Him Perform

If you love playing music, go out and play it, you never know who is going to be in the audience watching you perform.  This ukulele player in Maui, Hawaii found that out recently while playing Matisyahu’s “One Day” in a local coffee shop.

As you can see in the video above, the ‘uke’ player was completely oblivious to the fact that the person he was covering is five feet away from him the whole time.  Matisyahu’s bassist Stu Brooks, who filmed the video, wrote on his Facebook page

“This was rad. This kid started singing Matisyahu’s “One Day” and didn’t know that the artist was right in front of him. Watch the reveal at the end. He still didn’t believe it was him and it took a second for it all to sink in. Loved this moment.”

It’s easy to see why he didn’t recognize the now clean-shaven Matisyahu. The (former) Hasidic Jewish rapper, is beardless and almost unrecognizable from his 2004 “King Without A Crown” fame.  The rapper shocked the music world by denouncing his religion and shaving his iconic beard back in 2011.  At the end of the video you can even hear the ukelele player say “you look different!”
