Well, in case you were wondering if Fleet Foxes frontman Robin Pecknold was an Isaac Brock fan the results are in: He is! Not only that, but he respects the guy enough to connect him to his own mother. As Stereogum and Reddit pointed out over the weekend, Pecknold posted an Instagram story of a text message he sent to his mother and the Modest Mouse frontman, Isaac Brock, connecting them and including some suspiciously romantic emojis at the end of the text.

From what we can see he writes “intro text, connecting the two of you – Isaac, meet my mom, Lisa. She birthed me and raised me. Mom, meet Isaac, singer in Modest Mouse. You drove me to Portland to see him play when I was 15.”

This is followed by the old woman emoji, and what looks to be the male painter emoji… which could translate loosely here to just “artist” I guess. These two with a plus sign, an equals sign, an ellipses and a “?” sure is similar to the way I used to construct potential crush connections with my friends in middle school! So perhaps that is what Pecknold is doing here. Couple other things to note about the text message: Pecknold uses two spaces after periods (shudder), and, he could just be being nice and introducing his mom to a musician she thinks is cool. That’s one of the perks of growing up and becoming a pretty well-known musician yourself, right?

Speaking of Robin’s music, Fleet Foxes’ new record Crack Up will be out in just a few weeks, on 6/16. You can catch them on tour this summer at a couple intimate shows, and they just recently released the video for “Fool’s Errand.”
