The Last Person Arya Expects To See Might Be Returning To ‘Game Of Thrones’

Look closely at the promo image above for this Sunday’s Game of Thrones. What do you see? It’s the Waif holding the same bloody knife she used to stab Arya in last week’s episode. But who’s that shadowy figure behind her? It could be no one, or it could be No One. There’s a so-crazy-that-it-might-be-true theory floating around the Internet right now about who that mysterious outline might belong to. The obvious assumption is, “I dunno, some nobody fishmonger living in Braavos,” but as noted by Redditor b_walker08, “this silhouette looks quite familiar…” The headline: “Does this not look like Syrio?”

Others agree.

Normally id think this is just another redditor grasping at straws but that silhouette really has an uncanny resemblence

Or maybe Jaqen H’ghar was Syrio all along.

I personally believe that the Syrio we knew in Kings Landing is Jaqen.

I am basically speculating that Jaqen has been much more involved with Arya’s life and for much longer than she realizes. None of their meetings have been by chance.

In Kings Landing, Jaqen wears the Syrio face while training Arya. After they are separated, he continues to watch over her as “Jaqen-face”. Why the switch? No clue – maybe for her personal development, maybe to misdirect the Lannisters…

Bottom line is, as the producers and cast have said, the real Syrio is dead. However the man that we know as Syrio might not be. aka Jaqen in Syrio face. (Via)

Let’s take a moment to break this down.

The last time we saw Arya’s “dancing” instructor was in season one’s “The Pointy End,” when he got into a sword fight with Ser Meryn Trant and, presumably, lost. We never see his corpse, though, which is pretty important on this show of all shows. It’s also why many viewers think he’s still alive, and possibly a Faceless Man. On a recent episode of the UK’s answer to Talking Dead but about Game of Thrones, Thronecast, actor Miltos Yerolemou (who played Syrio) confirmed that his character has a “strong relationship” with the House of Black and White, where the Faceless Man reside.

Yerolemou has also been having some fun on Twitter.

Could it be? We’ll find out… not today (so, Sunday).
