Here's Matthew McConaughey On Playing Rust Cohle & Watching 'True Detective' Just Like The Rest Of Us

It’s Matthew McConaughey Day in my house like I’m sure it is for many of you. If I don’t get an “alright alright alright” while he hoists up a golden trophy after putting my DVR on overdrive to work in True Detective during the boring awards then I will feel cheated. So it’s only fitting to kick off the day with this most excellent sit down Q&A the man behind Rust Cohle and Ron Woodroof recently did with The Film Society of Lincoln Center where he talks all things his career like only he can.

In the above video he gets in depth on how he approached Rust Cohle and some nagging concerns about the 1995 version of the character. I’ve seen him discuss True Detective many times now but this is the first I’ve seen him really get in depth about attacking the role the internet can’t stop obsessing over (he’s watching the episodes just like the rest of us!). Needless to say it’s pretty much must watch around these parts.

And when you’re done with that here’s McConaughey on his love for filmmaking.  The passion behind his career renaissance really shines through. My god I could listen to this guy all day.

Check out all the clips here, as I imagine you will. It’s McConaugheDay, y’all!
