The First Teaser For Michelle Obama’s ‘Carpool Karaoke’ Segment Is Finally Here

Michelle Obama and James Corden teased FLOTUS’ appearance on The Late Show’s “Carpool Karaoke” feature a few weeks back on Snapchat.  Now, the first official teaser for this week’s segment is here and it definitely has us pumped for the First Lady to rock out in the passenger seat with an awe struck Corden. The brief glimpse at the upcoming episode centers around Corden’s awestruck attitude at having Obama in the car, which is presumably how most people would act if the wife of the leader of the free world and one of the most fashionable and kind-hearted people out there just hopped into your car ready to rock out.

Of course, Michelle isn’t just “hopping into” Corden’s car. Each celebrity appearance is organized down to every excruciating detail for the protection, privacy, and safety of the participants and considering who is in the car one has to imagine this episode is even more locked down and focused on minutiae. So it is to Corden and Michelle’s credit that they both still look happy-go-lucky and spontaneous driving around. Obama also reveals that she has only been in the passenger seat of a vehicle once throughout her family’s entire time living in the White House. Seven and a half years, and she’s been chauffeured the entire time! And the only time that she rode shotgun in all those years was when teaching one of her daughters how to drive, so it wasn’t even a relaxing ride. Some might consider that an unimaginable privilege, which isn’t wrong, but not having a choice where you ride in the car probably also feels extremely limiting.

The clip also gives a sense of what songs Michelle will be jamming out to, namely “Single Ladies” and possibly “Get Ur Freak On” by Missy Elliot. The latter is less likely than the former, but we would pay a lot of money to see FLOTUS absolutely breaking it down to Missy and Luda. It also should be noted, that she is wearing a great patterned dress in the appearance. Funny, fashionable, and willing to sing with James Corden? What did we do to deserve you, Michelle?
