The Network for Women Set to Ruin One of Cinema's Greatest Female Characters

Although NBC has already greenlit the TV series Hannibal with “Pushing Daises” Bryan Fuller on board as showrunner, and even though Fox has a Silence of the Lambs-like drama out next fall — “The Following” with Kevin Bacon — and even though there have already been five films based on Hannibal Lector, the Lifetime network — of all channels — is planning yet another television series based around Thomas Harris’ characters. This one is centered on Clarice, and will focus on the adventures of the young FBI agent after she leaves the academy.

I don’t know exactly what kind of approach Lifetime — the network for women — will take on a show focused on an agent who hunts down serial killers, but I’m guessing based on their “The Client List” track record that Clarice will look like Jennifer Love Hewitt and hunt down serial killers by giving handies to witnesses in exchange for information. Hannibal Lector, if he shows up in the series, will probably look like a Calvin Klein model and never wear a shirt. It will be the highest rated series on Lifetime. Dollars to donuts Jessica Alba has already been approached about taking on the role.
