Trevor Noah Decides To End The RNC By Ignoring Donald Trump

Trevor Noah and The Daily Show received mixed reviews for their coverage of the RNC in Cleveland. USA Today claimed the week was “far too close to business as usual for a show, and a host, that badly needed to do something unusual.” And while it’s definitely harsh for all of these quick takes on the state of late night television — especially given the fiasco we saw with Conan and The Tonight Show — Noah tried to get back to normal on Friday night’s special finale to the week in Cleveland.

Glitches and stumbles aside, Noah took the finale from Cleveland to essentially ignore Donald Trump — at least for the first segment. Following the dark, grim speech to close out the RNC, Noah was feeling the need to look away and shine some light on the news that didn’t get coverage on The Daily Show due to the convention.

There was the accidental bombing of civilians in Syria, Great Britain electing another female prime minister, and the shooting of the unarmed man with his hands up in Miami.

The latter leads to another fiery Noah rant that attempts to keep focus on an issue that he’s spoke on in the past, while also responding to the “fear” put forth in Trump’s RNC speech. If anything, it’s a good way to cap off a week that was apparently a stumble for the show against its late night rivals.
