‘Prison Break’ Has The Most Popular Trailer Of Next Season’s New Shows

Fox is going all-in on its strategy for the 2016-17 season: “Hey, remember that thing you used to like? Here’s more of it.” Based off the success of 24: Live Another Day and The X-Files miniseries, Fox loaded its schedule with name brand properties, including Lethal Weapon, with Clayne Crawford and Damon Wayans as Riggs and Murtaugh; the Geena Davis-starring The Exorcist; and even more 24, this time with the Jack Bauer-less 24: Legacy, and The X-Files.

It’s a plan that’s apparently working, because as noted by Variety, Prison Break, another old Fox series that’s being resurrected, rebooted, or whatever you want to call it, is the most-watched new trailer after the Upfronts.

As of Friday morning, the Prison Break trailer had amassed over 6.6 million views since its debut on Monday, putting it ahead of the other 35 trailers the networks released collectively. NBC’s This Is Us, from writer and executive producer Dan Fogelman, follows close behind with 5.2 million watches on YouTube.

That’s 6.6 million people wondering, “Wait, isn’t Michael dead?” He sure is, but because the demand for more Prison Break is clearly there, he’s somehow alive again, and will help “engineer the series’ biggest prison break ever.” I bet Melisandre’s involved. Anyway, Prison Break may have the most popular trailer overall, but it’s way behind Downward Dog for most watched trailer featuring a talking dog. Dog prison is the hardest prison to break out from.
