We’re Headed To Yemen In The New ‘Prison Break’ Limited Series Trailer

This week is Upfronts, AKA that time when all the TV networks show off their wares for next season and hope two minute sizzle reels for each show are enough to hook an audience and impress advertisers. At the end of the day, it always comes down to getting that sweet sweet cash. One show that is sure to have people racing to their TV sets is the Prison Break limited series that will continue to tell the story of Wentworth Miller’s Michael Scofield and Dominic Purcell’s Lincoln Burrows breaking out of some sort of prison. Purcell and Miller have been busy portraying another set of brothers that find themselves on the wrong side of the law over on Legends of Tomorrow, but watching them again here just seems right.

The trailer tugs at audience heartstrings by opening with Michael’s son asking what his “real father” was like and Sarah Wayne Callies’ Sarah Tancredi describing the former love of her life in poetic and forlorn terms. Then Michael’s brother Lincoln (Dominic Purcell) gets the tiniest shred of evidence that his brother might be alive (if you recall, he died at the end of the original series) and BOOM, the heartstring tugging is over and done with. From there on out it’s chockablock full of all the things fans know and love best from the series’ original run like one brother showing up out of nowhere to get another brother out of jail, an intricate plan that involves other inmates and smuggled notes, and of course a race against time to accomplish the mission.

If you aren’t made of stone, that hug between Lincoln and Michael that closes out the trailer has you a little choked up. The limited series is set to bow at mid-season for FOX and out of all of the reboots, relaunches, and remakes on the network this year, this one might be the best of the bunch based on this early look. Or that could just be our bias from seeing Miller and Purcell in tight white shirts and good jeans.
