Rostam had a real “me year” in 2017 with the release of his debut solo album Half-Light, but he also took plenty of time to focus on other people. In November, he busted out cover versions of Bob Dylan’s “Like A Rolling Stone” and The Pogues’ “Fairytale Of New York.” Now he’s continuing that trend into 2018: He released two tracks as part of the Spotify Singles series today, and alongside a new recording of Half-Light track “Bike Dream,” he included a breezy, acoustic guitar and harmonica version of Nick Drake’s “Pink Moon.”

“‘Pink Moon’ by Nick Drake [is] one of my favorite songs,” he wrote simply on Twitter. “This my cover of it.”

Although Rostam left Vampire Weekend in 2016, his departure was on good terms, and he did say at the time that he’d continue to work with the band on future projects. Ezra Koenig confirmed this last month, saying that Rostam is contributing to Vampire Weekend’s next album (which Koenig previously said was “80 percent done”): “We’re working on some songs in the exact same way we’ve always worked. We have some stuff that we started a pretty long time ago.”
