Remember how I said Captain America was having trouble finding a lead because they’re set on casting an American?  Well, they don’t have to worry about that when casting the villain, and surprise, it’s almost a done deal.

Marvel Studios has zeroed in on Hugo Weaving to play the villainous Red Skull in “Captain America.”  In the Marvel comics, Red Skull has been Captain America’s archenemy since 1941, when he engaged in espionage and sabotage as Hitler’s right-hand man. In his final battle with the superhero, he was buried under the rubble of a bombed building but — as would occur later with Captain America — fell into a state of suspended animation. Both were revived in modern times. [THR]

I don’t believe that last part about the modern era applies here, because from what I understand, it’s still supposed to be a period piece.  Anyway, Red Skull is a bad guy built from the same powers as Captain America, but sort of grotesque because the process was corrupted on account of him being evil.  So basically, EVERY COMIC-BOOK MOVIE VILLAIN EVER. Not to mention The Mask.
