This seemed like kind of a non-story and I wasn’t planning on doing a post about it, but since everyone keeps emailing me about it, here you go.  MTV recently asked Manny Shyamalan about the possibility of a sequel to Unbreakable – which Sam Jackson claims was originally planned as a trilogy.  Shockingly, Manny didn’t rule it out.

I tell you I get asked about it all the time, so it’s not [an idea] I ever forget… I genuinely just asked this question the other day — should I make ‘Unbreakable 2’? …I made the mistake of getting caught up in the hype of the immediate reaction of the movie, which, experience has shown me, is not accurate to any of my movies [i.e. everyone thought they sucked because everyone’s too stupid to understand what a genius I am. -Ed.]. And If I had been more confident and said ‘I believe in that movie, I love that movie, and I should just go start writing the second one,” that would’ve been the right move. I’ve still been thinking about it a lot and wonder if it’s too late.

Hmm, I’m not sure if we need a sequel to Unbreakable.  However, I did see the first one and I think Manny still owes me a second act.
