Darren Rovell Got Put In In His Place On Twitter By Lions Lineman Taylor Decker

Darren Rovell tweets a lot. Oftentimes, it doesn’t go very well.

Detroit Lions offensive lineman Taylor Decker is the next in a long line of people to own ESPN’s expert sports-ish reporter online. Decker got at him for failing to use his name after he and Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott exchanged jerseys following Monday Night Football.

Always more worried about the almighty dollar over the humans that make currency have value, Rovell tweeted out a photo of Decker and Elliott and pointed out how much the Cowboys running back’s jersey is worth.

Decker noticed the tweet and wasn’t too happy about not being labeled as, you know, a human being with a first and last name.

If you’re keeping score at home, Decker’s quote of Rovell’s original tweet has more retweets AND favorites than the original. Clearly, Decker wins. It’s the rules of the internet, you see.

This isn’t the first time Rovell has taken an L just by tweeting. Last week Rovell was brutalized by, of all groups, The Salvation Army. Dana White routinely takes him to task. At this point, you can assemble a backboard out of common household trash, hang it over your computer, and dunk on Rovell yourself with relative ease. This guy’s an easy target.

What’s sad is that Darren Rovell doesn’t want people to hate him. He’s just trying to do his job, and he makes headlines and people talk about him all the time so he probably thinks it’s working. But there’s something unsettling, and sometimes kind of gross, about the way he approaches sports. It’s not nice to openly make fun of people, but I think his approach is worth mockery. Why does the value of that jersey matter to anyone? Why does he think it does?

He won’t have to apologize for this one, but he still hasn’t apologized to America for attempting to play basketball so there are more pressing things to forgive here, I suppose.
