Calvin Harris’ New Breakup Single ‘My Way’ Isn’t Exactly Subtle

If you hadn’t heard, superstar producer Calvin Harris and actual superstar Taylor Swift broke up this summer. It was in the papers here and there, you might have missed it. With Taylor being the massive media monolith she is, we’ve definitely know her version of the events: he may or may not have visited a skeevy massage parlor and then following their split, chose not to credit her for her part in the summer smash “This Is What You Came For.” Well after a few social media rants and shots in interviews, Calvin is ready to put his feelings on wax on his new track “My Way.”

And you guys should know, Harris is not exactly being subtle:

“Why wait to say, at least I did it my way
Lie awake, two faced
But in my heart I understand
I made my move and it was all about you
Now I feel so far removed
You were the one thing in my way”

Well, then. Of course, when pressed about the subject matter on iHeartRadio Friday morning, he dodged like a rubber ball was coming straight for his head.

“[The] song’s kind of about breaking out of a situation that you thought was a good thing. Then, you’re way more comfortable out of it. And it could be anything. It could be a job, or it could be a relationship. I had kind of the idea for the concept for a few years, but I didn’t know how to work out how it sounded.”

You know, could be anything! His life is very private, we’ve only so much to go on. But really, it’s only fair that Calvin gets his shots in now. Because when Taylor returns from on high to release her next project, you know that every person in the country will be singing along to a catchy tune about how much you (or a pseudonym for you) suck.
