People Are Freaking Out Because Of The Wild Finish To The Women’s 400 Meters

Allyson Felix is one of the most decorated track and field stars in the world, and as such was expected to take home the gold medal in the women’s 400 meter race on Monday night at the Rio Olympics. Instead, Felix took home silver. Everybody is having a meltdown about the race’s finish though, and it’s not because the United States didn’t take home gold.

Shaunae Miller of the Bahamas beat Felix by the slimmest of margins by straight up diving across the finish line. There have surely been some surprise upsets at the Olympics, but not many that are accomplished by such unorthodox methods.

The internet, naturally, is flipping out over Miller’s decision to dive head first across the finish line.

Some jokes might sting for fans of a certain basketball team that recently lost in the NBA Finals…

It didn’t take long for the photoshopping to begin, and surprisingly, none of them involve anyone putting a Crying Jordan onto Felix’s face:

There were some people who thought that Miller broke the rules to get this win because you just don’t see this in track and field. Former Olympian Lolo Jones chimed in with confirmation that this move is, in fact, 100 percent legal.

Felix might be disappointed that she took home silver rather than gold, so luckily Leslie Jones is ready to lift her spirits with pure patriotism.

We’ve seen this plenty of times during the Rio Games, but this is just more confirmation that Leslie Jones has made the 2016 Olympics a little more fun.
