To offset any bad news you might hear today, lo, we bring you tidings of great joy!

Last week, a leaked photo going around on Facebook seemed to suggest that that the Hershey Company would soon be making peanut butter cups with Reese’s Pieces right inside of them. Why? Because if there’s anything that might actually make the world a better place, it’s peanut butter chocolate drops inside of peanut butter chocolate cups. This is good news for Reese’s, considering their Christmas tree “scandal” in December.

However, because it was on a personal Facebook page instead of on the official Reese’s Facebook page, many commenters were suspicious and didn’t believe the rumors were actually true. Until now.

Though Reese’s has not made an official announcement yet, earlier today, they seemed to give credence to the leak by addressing it on Facebook. In an email to Eater, a Reese’s spokesperson coyly addressed the speculative comments.

“Would Reese’s make consumer dreams come true and bring together two beloved favorites — Cups and Pieces — into one mind-blowing delicious cup of goodness? You’ll just have to keep watching as it unfolds!”

Reese’s has been actively engaging in a week-long social media campaign. They’re either preparing us or torturing us in preparation for the likelihood that the best thing ever is about to happen to a Reese’s since this dude filled a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup with Oreo creme.

So while we’re all sitting here waiting quite impatiently, making due with normal peanut butter cups until these come out, the rumor mill says that these will be hitting store shelves in July. The timing is perfect because it’s just in time for Independence Day. And there’s not much that’s more American than Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, especially considering that the tasty confections have been the most popular brand of candy in the United States for over a decade.

Either way, for Reese’s lovers everywhere, it can’t come quickly enough. Our generation may not get to have social security benefits, but we will have Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups filled with Reese’s Pieces.
