Markelle Fultz’s Jumper May Not Be Fixed, But He Is Knocking Down Backwards Full Court Shots

We have written extensively about how weird basically everything surrounding Markelle Fultz has been this year. Whether it’s been his shoulder injury, his recovery from said injury, the fact that his jumper looks nothing like it did when he was at Washington, or the fact that the Sixers keep letting people record him as he’s shooting, everything regarding Fultz’s return to the court has been simply bizarre.

Perhaps, though, the Sixers have been going about this all wrong. Maybe the secret to fixing Fultz’s jumper is not to have him shoot conventionally. Maybe a game of 12th dimensional chess is afoot, and the secret is to just have Fultz chuck up backwards, full court shots, instead.

That’s what happened on Friday afternoon in a video captured by Jessica Camerato of NBC Sports Philadelphia. Look at Fultz prove all the haters who question his range post-injury extremely wrong.

There is almost zero chance that this is ever a thing that he will need to break out in a game, but this is also a super fun thing for him to have in his arsenal of tricks every now and then. Sure, it’s a bit weird that he can do this when the Sixers have been saying that he needs to build up strength in his shoulder, and there will be plenty of highlight truthers who say that since we lose the ball in the shot that this is fake, but I’d still like to see Fultz try this during a preseason game or something just for fun.
