WEEKEND PICKS: TIME TO RAISE THE CUP

Nicole LaFosse likes the Penguins tonight. And, apparently, girls?

Every Friday we pick the winners to the weekend’s most promiscuous matchups. Home teams are listed in ALL CAPS. Unless they aren’t…

Tonight: RED WINGS over Penguins. Home ice is just such a big deal in the playoffs. I really wanted to pick the Pens: they’re a sexier pick and they seem to have the more overrated firepower, but I think this will be a game that helps cement Chris Osgood’s legacy as one of the great goalies in Red Wings history.

Mets (+1.5) over YANKEES. The Yanks are coming off being swept by the Red Sox. Also took the over here, as the game is being played in The Launching Pad That George Built. I’d feel better about this pick if it wasn’t, you know, the Mets. But it’s a good game for the Blogs With Balls crowd, if they can get tickets (Ufford will be at BWB, I will not).

Sparks at FEVER, under 148. “Betting the under on WNBA games” is the new “Betting the over on Nationals games.” Also took Storm at LYNX under 155 and Mercury at MONARCHS under 170. That’s why they call it “disposable income.”

Tomorrow: Franklin over Silva. Franklin’s the favorite. Also took Cro Cop over Al Turk. Because once a badass, always a badass. Sometimes.

Sunday: Lakers over MAGIC. Let’s see if Dwight Howard can reach ten turnovers in a game. I have faith.
