Katy Perry Eating Dirt On A Segway Was The Internet’s Favorite Burning Man Moment

The too-peaceful Labor Day weekend was met with a vague distraction from this year’s Burning Man Festival, which takes place far from civilization in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert. Sadly, what happens at Burning Man mostly stays at Burning Man. No paparazzi were willing to make the three-hour trek from the nearest town, so we’re relying upon social media to let us know what happened. Susan Sarandon‘s adventures as the high priestess, who scattered Timothy Leary’s ashes, made the news. Otherwise, the event consists of a bunch of hipsters doing their best Mad Max: Fury Road rendition in the middle of the desert. With all of the earth, wind, and fire (not to mention the persistent bugs) at this year’s event, only the hardiest will survive.

One shining social media beacon, Katy Perry, offered herself up for the Internet’s entertainment. Well, there was another celebrity present, but we’ll get to that in a moment. Katy took a break from feuding with her nemesis to don a gas mask and a bandana. Her entire ensemble must have cost thousands of dollars, but she was determined to be as authentic as possible. Katy hopped on a segway and promptly lost control, and it’s incredibly hard to stop watching this video. She’s having a fantastic sense of humor and doesn’t mind anyone laughing at her, which is good, considering Twitter’s take on the matter.

In addition to the segway madness (which clumsily echoed Will Smith’s adventure from last year), Bradley Cooper’s girlfriend, Irina Shayk, also posed it up at the festival. Next year, more celebrities need to make the trip to Burning Man. Let’s Coachella this joint up, shall we?
