Avery Bradley has popped up as a player who could potentially get moved before Thursday’s NBA trade deadline. Bradley, formerly of the Detroit Pistons and now with the Los Angeles Clippers, would fill a massive need for a team that needs a potential 3-and-D player in its backcourt. Add in the fact that he’s on an expiring contract and only makes $8.8 million, and he’s an affordable option for a contender to pursue.
Apparently, the San Antonio Spurs are among the teams that would be interested in seeing what Bradley could bring to the table. Marc Stein of the New York Times tweeted out that San Antonio looks to be on the list of suitors for the veteran guard.

As Stein noted, though, the Clippers want to get a first-round pick back in exchange for Bradley, which is a steep asking price.

San Antonio is in a unique position in that it doesn’t have any first-round picks incoming or outgoing, so the team has nothing but its own assets to play with for the foreseeable future. If it wanted to make a move, it certainly has the pieces in its war chest of assets to play with in its pursuit of Bradley.
Of course, the Spurs are notoriously thrifty and prefer to draft and develop talent rather than use their picks to get guys, and it’s fair to be skeptical of whether they of all franchises would want to turn a pick into a rental. But the thought of Bradley on the team is certainly a fun one, especially when paired defensively with Kawhi Leonard, so who knows what San Antonio will do before the clock hits 3:01 p.m. on Thursday.
