Thoughts on the speech and campaign thus far?
Criticisms Of Barack Obama’s DNC Speech
GREAT,SPEECH BY THE NEXT PRESIDENT GO OUT AND VOTE FOR THE ISSUES NOT THE MAN. OBAMA, WILL CLEAN UP THIS COUNTRY AND CLEAN UP BUSH’S MESS.
IM GLAD THAT THIS SITE LOOKS AT REAL ISSUES AS WELL AS HIP HOP
I’m not voting for Obama just because he’s black but because he is the rite man…but I gotta admit I fought those tears of joy!!! A brother in office in my lifetime for real??? And look at the irony…Emmitt Till was murdered on this day, and MLK gave his most famous speech on this day! GET OFF YA ASS AND VOTE!!!
Yeah this is gonna be the first time ever that I vote and im 21!
OBAMA 08 !
Obama got this shit on smash,i just pray that we dont have anymore silly ass haters tryin to take em out…keep him in yall prayers as well,he’s most def about to change the game…VOTE PEOPLE!!!!!!
Barack Obama is exactly what our country needs.
Diversity is very good. There are way too many close minded people in the USA and in the world as a whole.
We need to set the example and that starts with a powerful and respected leader.
More importantly Obama is a real person. He is in touch with whats happening today. He was not born into $$. He understands and feels our struggles. Hes even cool with your favorite rapper!!
McCain? Not so much. John McCain could not even name how many homes he had when asked last week. WTF???
George Bush is not respected and I think the direction that McCain is going in will only render the same or similar results.
Like Obama pointed out.. McCain voted along with George Bush 90% of the time yet his people will try and tell you that McCain is so much different.
HOPEFULLY OUR PRESIDENT WILL BE BLACK!!!!!!!!!
Obama iz that dude, pbp. myspace.com/Lyrik07
Great speach but in the end this is going to be very close. McCain got a lot of supporters
he kilt it
great SPEECHES from Barack and Bill…keep that american promise !!!!!!!
Mind blowing speech…left me speechless.
I aint a fan like you others out there. The man is like any other Democrat when it comes to black issues. The Democrats expect us and the Republicans dont need us. He has gone out of his way to prove he is not the ‘Black canidate’
When Sean Bell happened son said we should respect the judge decision like let it is ok for police to shoot a man 50 times.
Son had to be coaxed into speaking out against Jena 6. Edwards released a harder statement then Obama.
Flat left his man who was speaking truth to power. Disowned people who made white ppl feel uncomfortable whether they said something controversal or not.
I havent heard anyone mention the justice system which truly is the biggest problem along with the economy (although niggas was still in jail/broke when the economy was good) to effect the black community. At least as late as 2000 there were more black men in jail then college according to the BBC.
But he has to win right. Thats what I keep hearing. Its like a nigga going for MVP but the team keep losing, unless you that man that aint hope. I dont think son is as mainstream as his actions I think he is compromising to get elected. You can only compromise so much before it creates true change.
I said all that to say this, Obama is not the problem its our two party system. Canidates have to please so many people they intern ignore others. If there were more canidates they could be truer to their own beliefs… SO
IM VOTING FOR ME
Curtiisssss I hear what you sayin… I definately see where u r commin from.. But yo.. If not Obama.. Then who?.. McCain?.. Ill take my chances with Barack.. In life you cant please everyone.. But I know when it comes down to it.. He is gonna be there for not only blacks.. But for American as a whole…
Oh yea.. Rousing speech as well.. Im rootin for this guy…
Definitely on point, and Curtiss I agree with you on Obama not representing in those cases you mentioned but we have to give him a chance to get in office. He doesn’t want to scare anyone away, if you know what I mean. It’s complicated, but hopefully people will look at us in a different when they realize what can be done when minorities have opportunity.
This guy is a great speaker ….and i love the possibility of a brother being in the white house but lets be honest….where’s the substance?????….change ,change ,change (noun) change change(verb) yes we can ,yes we can….it takes more than tha to be a president and he just doesnt have his shit together …half of yall dont even know shit about his policies (which are gonna fuck young people royally anyway)…or better yet how about anyone name a specific accomplishment the dude has achieved in office that makes him fit for the presidency?just one

TO CURTIS, OBAMA CANT FIGHT EVERYONES BATTLE…WHY DO YOU GO TO LAW SCHOOL AND BE A LAWYER AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE JENA 6? PEOPLE NEED TO STAND UP FOR THESEMLEVES AND GET EDUCATED…
You right homie he cant fight for everyone. Im just saying if im going to throw my vote behind someone they are going to represent my views for at least what i feel 70% of the time. The thing I feel is the most important to me neither one spoke on so Im voting for me.
Id like to see son win might motivate others to do different things. But i still feel we need more people running with a real chance so the canidates could be truer to who they are. Just because two parties is the way it is dont mean its the way it has to be.
GREAT SPEECH!!!!!! PEOPLE GO OUT AND VOTE!!! WE NEED SOME CHANGES!
Obama is the right man for the job. I just hate when black people try to downplay who he is , just to stand out amongst the crowd. Anyone truly cannot believe McCain is better for America than Obama.
And for the people who loveto say he is not “black” enough. Lets take a look at what he and his wife have done. Michelle Obama majored in Sociology and African-American Studies, and became a Civil Rights lawyer in Chicago. Barack, was also a Civil Rights lawyer in Chicago before he got into politics. Barack also married married a black woman, thats significant. There were only 2 black people in the entire lawfirm, and he decided to marry the brown skin black woman, instead of any other white chick there. To me that shows me where his head is truly at. OBAMA 08.
we need barack so all this nonsense can stop. drugs, violence, gangs. its need to stop. if america changes so can the people.
@CURTIS ..WHY DONT U GET INTO POLITICS BECAUSE ITS SILLY TO WAIT ON SOMEONE THAT REPRSENT YOUR VIEWS? AS A NATION WE NEED TO STOP WAITING ON MIRACLES..EVERYONE HAS GOD GIVEN TALENT TO ACHEIVE AND MAKE THE WORLD BETTER. DO YOU THINK POLITICANS THINK ABOUT THE AAVERGAGE PEOPLE??? THATS WHY HAVE ALLL THESE WARS…DO YOU THINK BUSH,HILARY, CHARLIE RANGEL WOULD SEND THEIR KIDS INTO THE MARINES OR ARMY?? I HATE WHEN PEOPLE PLACE ALL THIS ISSUES ON OBAMA..HE IS NOT JESUS..U SHOULD PLACE IT ON THE GOVERNONR OF NY, YOUR SENATOR, MAYOR, WE ALL PAY TAXES.The RAPPERS WHO SAY THEY ARE KEEPING IT REAL..
Everyone has the right idea. We should weigh our options and not vote based on color. However, I am backing barack, and have been since 2004. He is an eloquent speaker, and best of all he delivers. I can relate to his beginnings like most of you. He and Michelle had thousands in Student loans that they JUST paid off in 2005. C’mon man! I feel that struggle every month because Sallie Mae wants that 40k back. I fell his stance on education reform and health care. He understands ALL issues. American issues arent always black and white, and it would be naive to beleve so. Last night I had my son sit and watch this with me and the whole time I am thinking that what he (Obama) is doing is for every lil brown boy to achieve the ultimate American dream. To one day run this country. This place is ready for a change, and if all you’re gonna do is complain, then shut the hell up and take what the Repub’s are gonna do and suffer, or move away. This is history people. Plain and simple. BArock the Vote November 4th! Please…
sorry about the errors it’s still early:) BTW, McCain just chose a 44 y.o woman as his running mate. It’s about to get real!
Yea were ready..lets get it..historic prophetic times ahead…i’m ready..Obama!
No candidate is perfect but i feel Obama is offering change 1.0..we have to start somewhere and it starts now…i respect what he said about upholding the 2nd amendment while keeping choppers out the hands of criminals….and he also said we should respect Mccain for proudly serving our country…i found that admirable because i myself am an iraq veteran….make sure yall go out and vote….and make history
“Don’t tell me we can’t uphold the 2nd amendment while keeping AK-47s out of the hands of criminals.”
– Barack Obama
I need to know more about Barack Obama’s stance on individual gun rights. He says he will protect individual gun rights for hunters and law-abiding citizens for purposes of hunting and target shooting. What about for self-defense Barack? I don’t care about hunting and target shooting. Out here we are not hunting, we are the hunted, we are the targets! What about individual gun rights for self-defense for us law-abiding citizens? What is you stance on that?
mccain has voted w/ bush 90% of the time….WHAT DOES THAT TELL U?
@Curtiss…you can’t jump into specifics…those examples that you pointed out are too specific…you have to understand America is huge and Obama is pointing out significant priority issues we’re facing durin the Bush administration.
Sean Bell getting shot 50 times and jena 6 are major issues…but is something that could of happened with Clinton in office…. or anyone for that matter…the solution to these things come from congress and them adjusting and amending Laws (which in effect can get intricate). You mention the justice system is a major issues next to economy? I strongly disagree. Just because there are more blacks/Latinos in jail than that in college doesn’t mean anything. The ratio is unbalanced obviously but the law is the law. You commit the crime you do the time. Not Bush, not Barack, not Clinton, not McCain made these laws up. Now that we as people as a nation as a whole as minorities need to start making better choices than that’s on us. That we need to start pointing fingers at our selves and stop relying on someone to defend us when commit our mistakes – -that’s one us…maybe the gov’t should reduce the investing into building jails..and put that money else where. But to be honest as messed up as our country is , because Bush literally fucked us over. Obama is going to need more than 1 term to make significant changes. You have to remember Bush dicked this country over 8 years – that’s a long time. I believe the things you mentioned are going to get seen and taken care of but is not priority as a country and globally. This country is in debt. billions and billions of dollars due to the war, this country has very very weak relationships with other countries world wide (courtesy of the bush admin), the health care system, education are priority in my list over sean bell getting shot 50 times I’m sorry. It may sound cruel but life goes on and we need to focus on ourselves as a whole rather than bring up specific examples. Is going to be tough to turn this around 360. Obama understands what it takes and I’m voting for him because as someone here earlier mentioned he wasn’t born to $$ so he understands hard work and those who deserve to be compensated – notice I mentioned deserve. If you listen to his speech most or even a great deal of his promises and goals are to those who deserve it. If you listen when talks about enhancing our education system he says “I’ll bring an army of new teachers with better pay” but then he says something like..he’ll raise the standard of the teachers..so in essence the teachers would have to care more for their students to deserve that higher pay – and I like that about him. He’s not just promising on giving but we have to work hard as a whole as well to be deserve these things that he’s outlining for us. A great deal of it is if we as American’s commit and are willing to make these changes he’s going to help us. He is not just going to wave a magic wand and everything is going to change.
We as people have to also be responsible for this change…we have the opportunity to elect a man with the power to help us achieve our desired changes in the US and world wide.
1.Nahmeanz,, lol how r u thinking prevent>>>>cure.. if he takes out guns out of the hands of criminals u wouldnt be needing to ru around with a f**ckin gun. thinking like that is part of the solution not the problem
u black Americans think u got sum kind of monopoly on obama. and he has to speak out on every single “black event that happens”
if he decreases crime thats directly helpin black america..
if he helps ppl get out of welfare thats helpin black america..
but more importantly hes helpin ur country as a whole
just for the record im black but not american
@Kazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzam co sign..curtiss like McCain just doesn’t get it..he’s focused on specifics rather than as a whole…he thinks the country revolves around sean bell..hehe.
by the way typical black American complaining rather then getting up and making a change…smdh…in disgust.
We need to stop acting like is about black and white..is bigger than that..man..stop being so closed minded..it was about black and white back when Dr. King held his speech..at this point in time..is a different mind frame..is we have to united and make a change…our children…need to unite..their children and so forth..the mindset of us Americans have to evolve and change…not only Americans but people as a whole.
Maybe now black people wil laspire to be more than athletes or musicians. Obama is a great inspiration aswell.
Not saying I dont like sports or music
Co-sing #35 btw. Black people like to complain about their problems ALOT more than try to solve it. Obam transcends beyond black or white in my opinion, dude is great.
obama has had a rough couple of weeks with all the negative ads,i was getting mad at the brother for not coming out swinging, but now i know he was lining up those bullets for mccain.
Mo what change are you making but throwing your support behind someone who would care less if you got shot 50 times?
Im criticizing not complaining and I am doing things such as volunteering at a community center and in school and working so dont act like you know me
And how we gone solve race issues by acting like we past them? Never solved nothing pretending like its not there.
YES WE CAN!
I agree with both Mo and CURTISSSSS on “some levels” but at the end of the day, not just America, but the whole world is IN DESPERATE NEED for a major change.
And as time evolves, one can witness how HORRIBLY the BUSH movement has run the U.S.A as a country, a nation and a force, straight into the ground.
I’m not big on politics but decided to watch his speech last night because I wanted to see what he TRULY is about. I dont wanna “read” about it, I dont wanna see it on the net, newspapers.
I wanna hear the words DIRECTLY from his mouth and his heart.
And last night, he was very eloquent and highly informative.
He seems to be a VERY intelligent individual who understands the issue.
But most importantly, he truly seems to care.
Again, some of you mentioned it, and Barack did so himself, he was not born into luxury, he was born into poverty.
So he understands the struggle.
I’m black, from Montreal Canada, and I’m anticipating change for not only my fellow Americans but also for the rest of the world.
Again, these changes that we are all yearning won’t be turned on instantaneously like a light switch, it takes time….
But he did the talk yesterday, and hopefully, ONCE (not IF) he OFFICIALLY gets elected, he WILL put those plans in motion accordingly and WALK THE TALK.
Like Sam Cooke said….
? CHANGE IS GONNA COME ?
Damn homie…do you really think Obama didn’t care about Sean Bell or anyone else getting shot 50 times??? What are You gonna do about??? Keep thinking the same ignorant ways and you will get the same bullshit results!!! We black folks are not the majority…if he helps America and you live here, don’t you think we all benefit? If this doesn’t inspire you, what is it gonna take?
Let’s stop biggin up loser’s like Game and lil wayne and start dreaming bigger!!! Clean up the hood, get our young a better education than we had…
Well said Chiz…..
