Crème Egg Mania has reached new heights in Britain. The country already proved its feverish devotion for the sickly-sweet confection last winter, when news of a slight change in composition (powdered milk vs. fresh) caused a £6 million decrease in sales. But apparently that disappointment hasn’t stopped the newest Cadbury scheme from being set into motion: a three-story popup cafe in London’s Soho district.
Your teeth will certainly be aching at the details of the space. The first floor will be devoted to selling toasted egg crème sandwiches to go, for £2 each ($2.85 USD). Moving up to the restaurant-style second floor (or, as those confusing weirdos across the pond call it, the “first floor”), more options will be available to diners, including egg and soldiers, strawberries and crème eggs, and crème egg tray bakes. And also coffee, tea, and water to rinse all that sugar down with. (Sadly, no Cadbury-themed cocktails, but you can find plenty of those on Pinterest.) On the third floor, there’s a giant, non-edible “interactive ball pool.” Heck. Yes.
The cavity-inducing shop will be open for seven weeks, beginning January 22, with tickets being sold on Eventbrite starting the 19th. Limited walk-in space is anticipated, so if this sounds like a good, Eastery time to you, you might want to book ahead. The cafe will be open Friday through Sunday until March 6.
