It might be blatant advertisement for a plane and technology that normal people couldn’t easily have access to, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t cool. This clip from Emirates is showing off the A380 airliner in action alongside the folks from Jetman Dubai, creating a clip that is breathtaking and butt clenching at the same time.
According to the video’s description, much practice and planning went into creating this stunt. This wasn’t some sort of Grand Theft Auto idea tossed together in the middle of a drunken night and then executed by a guy wearing just his underwear. These are professionals:
Armed with unguarded ambition and the vision to push boundaries beyond the unthinkable, Jetman Dubai and Emirates A380 take to the skies of Dubai for an exceptional formation flight.
A carefully choreographed aerial showcase, conducted over the Palm Jumeirah and Dubai skyline, involving the world’s largest passenger aircraft and the experienced Jetman Dubai pilots Yves Rossy and Vince Reffet.
Over the last three months, Emirates and the Jetman Dubai teams worked closely to diligently plan and coordinate every detail of this project.
You can check out some behind-the-scenes footage of the practice and planning at the video link, but I would rather just watch the two guys soar alongside this jet and wonder at the possibilities. Imagine how fast you could deliver a pizza with a jetpack like this? We live in marvelous times (that I hope we’ll all get to experience one day).
