It’s about time you add Havana to your fall vacation destination list. It was just last month that the US-based cruise ship Adonia docked in Havana, but soon you won’t have to take a boat to visit the island nation that brings us delicious coffee, cigars, and music that makes your hips pop. According to The Verge, six airline carriers have been approved by the US Department of Transportation to start offering commercial flights from the States to Cuba. 120 roundtrips will be occurring daily.
Which airlines will be making the daily voyages to Cuba? Currently, American Airlines, JetBlue Airways, Southwest Airlines, Sun Country Airlines, and Frontier Airlines have been accepted to start making treks to Cuba. If you’re a frequent traveler, you can tell that most of these airlines are in the budget category, so prepare for some decently priced flights.
Flights will be leaving this fall from Philadelphia, Miami, Chicago, Fort Lauderdale, and The Twin Cities. 10 Cuban cities have agreed to accept US airlines. Havana, Camaguey, Cayo Coco, Cayo Largo, Cienfuegos, Holguin, Manzanillo, Matanzas, Santa Clara, and Santiago de Cuba will all be entry points to begin your Cuban vacation.
Despite the soon-to-be-addition of frequent flights to and from Cuba, you can’t just book a trip on your favorite travel website. Tourist restrictions are still in effect and you can only visit Cuba based on certain criteria such as journalistic activities or visiting Cuban relatives.
